Why organic tea ?

« Legend has it that in Zhejiang, the region of China's great green teas, there was a garden like no other. The peace that reigned there, and the beauty of the flowers and trees that grew there, were unequalled. But to enter this little paradise, one had to have a perfectly pure soul, for the garden and its tea trees remained hidden from the common man. Only a young girl with an alabaster complexion and an immaculate soul reached this haven of peace one day, and there she drank an exquisite green tea. At sunset, she left the garden and never found it again... But she remembered that precious and magical moment all her life.

Organic teas from Les Thés de la Pagode®

All Les Thés de la Pagode® teas are Organic Agriculture certified. The quality requirements of Les Thés de la Pagode® have led its experts to choose teas from certified Organic Agriculture plantations. This is evidenced by the Organic Agriculture label awarded in France by officially-recognised organisations (Ecocert and Qualité France), which appears on the bags and tins of Les Thés de la Pagode®. This label guarantees a product from Organic Agriculture. Tea lovers sometimes forget that tea leaves are never washed. By choosing organic tea, consumers can be sure that there are no pesticides in their cup. Our tea bags are 100% natural and do not undergo any chemical treatment. In order not to alter the quality of the infusion, the tea bags are neither folded nor stapled. In order to keep all their freshness, and therefore all their properties, our health teas are bagged at the very place of their production.

Thés de la Pagode® tea bushes are grown in remote highland gardens. These gardens have always been preserved and have remained as they were several hundred years ago. They are therefore organic in essence, and have been chosen according to criteria that meet the quality requirements of Les Thés de la Pagode®.

L'importance de la biodiversité

The importance of biodiversity

The gardens are planted in staircases, and the tea plants grow among various species: ginger, cinnamon trees, coconut trees, etc. This biodiversity benefits all the plants by promoting fertilisation, keeping pests at bay and combating soil erosion. Fertilisation, when necessary, is carried out with organic manure. Weeding is done entirely by hand. By respecting ancestral methods, Thés de la Pagode® has developed a real know-how that guarantees a 100% organic tea. These artisanal production conditions offer a harvest that is three times smaller in organic agriculture than in conventional agriculture, but with a quality and safety that are obviously much higher.

Unspoilt tea gardens

Thés de la Pagode® tea bushes are grown in remote highland gardens. These gardens have always been preserved and have remained as they were several hundred years ago. They are therefore organic in essence, and have been chosen according to criteria that meet the quality requirements of Les Thés de la Pagode®.

They are located in various regions of Asia, depending on the type of tea, between 1,200 and 1,800 metres above sea level, where the mountainous areas are the most favourable for tea planting, especially when they benefit from frequent fog, which filters the sun's rays. The leaves then develop slowly, which allows them to remain tender and rich in antioxidants.
